Title: Drone Surveillance for Narcotics Investigations
Course Description:
This course is designed to educate drone operators and narcotics investigators in the implementation of small Unmanned Aircraft Systems for surveillance in drug related investigations. This two-day course includes actual flights and practical exercises for simulated drug investigations.
When: September 24 – 25, 2026. Class will run from 0900-1700 (16 hours) both days.

Fee: There is no fee for this training.
Meals / Lodging: Responsibility of the participant / agency.
Who Should Attend: Federal, State, & Local Law Enforcement Officers; Qualifying Military Personnel (e.g. Counterdrug Units, Military Police, etc.). Students must be sworn law enforcement officers or currently serving in a law enforcement capacity as a member of the United States Armed Forces. Priority of registration is given to NC state and local civilian law enforcement officers.
Pre-requisites: None (No Part 107 Required).
Required Equipment:
- Vehicle (for transportation to practical scenarios off-site)
- Handheld radio
- Note taking material
***Students may bring their agency’s sUAS as long as it is compliant with FAA regulations and State laws. If you do not have a drone, students may still attend.***
MANTA training is provided free of charge to Law Enforcement Officers through the NC National Guard Counterdrug Program.
