Instructor: Juliana Vukonic-Herring (Criminal Investigator – SOIU)

Prerequisites: Students must be sworn law enforcement officers or currently serving in a law enforcement capacity as a member of the United States Armed Forces. Priority of registration is given to NC state and local civilian law enforcement officers.

Course Overview/Objectives:

  • Review and discuss what defines a Transnational Criminal Organization (TCO).
  • Give an overview of TCO’s and the different types of TCO’s along with their most common identifiers.
  • History of some of the most notorious Transnational Criminal Organizations to include but not limited to:
    • “Tren de Aragua” and their current operations across Latin America and in the United States.
    • “Sinaloa Cartel (CDS)” not only in Mexico but in cities around the United States.
    • “Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG)”, not only in Mexico but in cities around the United States.
  • Review of U.S. TCO operations for the past couple of years:
    • Violence
    • Recruiting
    • Expansion into new territories
  • Lucrative activities:
    • Money laundering
    • Drug trafficking
    • Arms trafficking
    • Human trafficking/Kidnapping
    • Breaking and entering
    • and more….
