Prerequisites: Students must be sworn law enforcement officers or currently serving in a law enforcement capacity as a member of the United States Armed Forces. Priority of registration is given to NC state and local civilian law enforcement officers.
Course Overview/Objectives:
- Review and discuss what defines a Transnational Criminal Organization (TCO).
- Give an overview of TCO’s and the different types of TCO’s along with their most common identifiers.
- History of some of the most notorious Transnational Criminal Organizations to include but not limited to:
- “Tren de Aragua” and their current operations across Latin America and in the United States.
- “Sinaloa Cartel (CDS)” not only in Mexico but in cities around the United States.
- “Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG)”, not only in Mexico but in cities around the United States.
- Review of U.S. TCO operations for the past couple of years:
- Violence
- Recruiting
- Expansion into new territories
- Lucrative activities:
- Money laundering
- Drug trafficking
- Arms trafficking
- Human trafficking/Kidnapping
- Breaking and entering
- and more….
